Supreme Commander is running slow, where's the bottleneck?Ok guys so although all of my other games play really smoothly, even in huge battles on Dawn of war: soulstorm and new FPS games, Supreme Commander:forged alliance has a terrible frames per second when the game gets going(as in people sending lots of tanks at each other). This is offline too so it isn't about lag from internet connection.
My specs are..
Q6600 OC'd to 3ghz HD4870 512mb 2x2GB corsair XSM2 ram
Out of those what's the most likely reason for the slow down. If I play a 4 player game on a big map the frame rate will dip below 10fps! Like 6 fps and it's like watching a slideshow!
I'm surprised it's so bad because other games so no sign at all of slow down but this is terrible.
I heard it's quite demanding of the processor with the hundreds of units but since It's optimized to take advantage of multiple cores I would have thought it would be ok.
Any ideas? (oh and I'm on Vista so it's not that problem where the game didn't take advantage of multiple cores without a fix for multi-core things on xp)

Supreme Commander is running slow, where's the bottleneck? My Q6600 slows down from about 40 to 15 FPS when a large battle takes place, it's because of the way the game controls the units, It's very advanced.
It's extremely CPU demanding.
