how to build Backlinks?

As i understand from a little study on SEO, backlinks are vital.
So i decided to create my backlinks by posting articles on some blogs including my website link

I have a question about distribution of the backlinks

What about posting a lot of article on the

1 - same blog
2 - different blogs on the same server (like blogspot, wordpress..)
3 - different blogs on different servers (or let say from the different providers)

Can you make a comparison ?
