Does flash interfere with SEO

Does anyone know if flash elements on a site or page present any problems to search engines finding that page? I've been getting conflicting information from various web designers.

well search engines dont recognized flash elements. so they wouldn't able to crawl means your website wouldn't get ranked

Flash is safe to use as long as you use this: code.google.com/p/swfobject/

With swfObject, there is a placeholder for alternative HTML content. This is not only a mobile fallback but also a good solution for SEO .
