How Google calculate link value weight for tracking URLWe're currently working on a client website who have internal links on the homepage such as:http://www.domain.com/filename.aspx?source=homepageimageI've checked and Google does not index these as a unique URL's, it only indexes the filename.aspx version. But I'm concerned that the weight of links from the homepage is not being passed internally onto the indexed filename.aspx version.Should I advise they remove all tracking parameters? Or is Google intelligent enough to realise this is the same page as filename.aspx? I also read Rand's tip about using # instead of a ?, maybe this is an option to maintain tracking and assign link weight to the correct page?

How Google calculate link value weight for tracking URLI've heard of a few people choosing to use # to be on the safe side, as search engines don't read past a hash tag in a URL. It seems, from the perspective of some large, authoritative websites, that Google is indeed smart enough to figure out that these are tracking URLs and not unique pages, but I wouldn't put all that much trust in the idea that it will get it right all the time--at least, not yet. I'd seriously consider the # option.
