301 vs 302: Redirect for affiliate links?

A piece of software that I inherited allows affiliate links; when an affiliate link is used (for example, example.com/?aff=123), the software uses the PHP header() function to redirect the browser back to the same page (example.com).

That's a 302 redirect, if I'm not mistaken. Is there any SEO (or other) benefit in forcing this to be a 301 redirect?

301 vs 302: Redirect for affiliate links?

In SEO there are many redirects which are used to redirect to the user as well as search engine spider and we can represent the pages or website bu using them. Some of these redirects are used as ethical process and some are used into the unethical process.

301 Redirect - This redirect is mostly used for the permanent redirects, suppose you have a old website and now moved to the new domain then we have to use 301 and if we have older pages and they are not exist on the website then we can redirect these old pages to new pages and by this process Google spider understand that pages or website moved to the new location.

302 Redirect - This redirect is mostly used for the temporary redirects, when you have a new page and want to generate the traffic on that pages then people can redirect multiple old pages traffic to this new pages but this redirect is known as the Black Hat SEO technique.
